RiverArts Studio Tour

RiverArts Studio Tour

Ever wonder what an artist’s studio really looks like? Curious about how artists bring their incredible work to life? Or perhaps you’re eager to take home a piece of original art?
The Chestertown RiverArts Annual Studio Tour offers you the perfect opportunity to step inside the creative spaces of Kent and Upper Queen Anne’s Counties. This self-guided tour unfolds over two weekends this fall, October 19-20 and October 26-27, 2024. Plus, as an added bonus, several studios will stay open the weekend of November 2-3, 2024, rain or shine. Best of all, it’s completely free!

This year, more than 50 artists, including many with national recognition, are excited to welcome visitors into their studios. You’ll have the chance to chat with the artists, watch them in action, and purchase original artwork at special studio tour prices. The art on display is as varied as the artists themselves, with styles ranging from traditional to avant-garde to whimsical. You’ll find a wide array of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, metalwork, pottery, fiber arts, woodcraft, jewelry, glass, and more.

The studios you’ll visit are as diverse as the art they house. Some are just as you might imagine, while others are utterly unique! There are studio galleries, independent studios within a small art complex, and even home-based studios where you’ll get a glimpse of the artist’s personal style. Studios range from expansive two-story metalworking shops to cozy woodworking setups in a one-car garage. At Heron Point, Chestertown’s premier retirement community, 14 artists will showcase their work in a group studio. Additionally, some artists will be displaying their work at venues other than their own studios.
